Telling Friends

Kyle and I invited Shawn and Tasha Layton over to our house to eat dinner and hang out for a while. During dinner, we were talking about Paige and I asked if they were planning on having another one anytime soon. Tasha said no and started to explain why. She talked about how she wants to plan to have her next one in November so she can claim them on that years tax return and how it would suck to have a baby in January because you just barely miss the cut-off. Kyle and I laughed a little bit under our breaths and said well we wish we had you over a couple weeks ago…she looked a little confused and said, wait, why? Kyle said, Jamie’s pregnant. Tasha and Shawn both were so shocked and excited at the same time!! Tasha seems so happy for us and even clapped to congratulate us!! They both just kept saying that is so awesome, congratulations! Shawn kept talking to Kyle and saying, dude that’s awesome. Tasha and I talked about how excited I was and how fast it all happened! Tasha told me she was so happy they would be here when I had the baby and started naming all the things she could share or had an extra of. It was such a great reaction we got from both of them and we loved to share our excited with these friends that we love so much.

Eating...

I went to the doctor’s office to have them do a pregnancy test on me so I could prove to AHCCCS that I was in fact, pregnant! I worked today and I felt exhausted all day long too. It was like I hadn’t gotten any sleep! I ate breakfast at 5:30 before going to work and I was starving by 11. I started to feel really sick and wasn’t sure if it was morning sickness or hunger. I went to lunch at 11:30 and felt a little better after eating. The food didn’t look or smell good to me though. Thankfully it tasted ok. That night for dinner nothing sounded good to me, so I kind of just snacked. The next few days were the same…I forced myself to eat and everything tasted fine, but I didn’t really have an appetite.

Telling the Family

We wanted to be positive about being pregnant so we used the other pregnancy test we had bought the night before. The second one was positive as well!! We were so excited all over again! Kyle wanted to tell our friends Jordan and Kaitlyn Flake that we were pregnant so bad during church. He didn’t want to wait any longer to tell our parents. Our original plan was to tell our parents when we went up to Blanding (where Kyle’s family lives) with my mom’s family. We were going to play Pictionary with everyone while we were there. On Kyle’s turn, he was going to draw an egg, then a ‘tadpole’ than me (as a stick figure)! Since Kyle wanted to tell our family that Sunday, we decided to do Cell Phone Pictionary instead! We selected all of our immediate family members and sent the first picture!

My brother Brady immediately texted back saying ‘Jamie’s Pregnant, we win’. We both laughed about how quickly he guessed it!
Then we sent the next picture. It was of an egg. The next was of a ‘tadpole’. The fourth picture was of the egg and tadpole together!

My sister Cari called us and said ‘Are you serious right now? Are you pregnant!?’ We both said YES! ‘She gave us a big congratulations! We talked for a minute or two, but told her there were still people who hadn’t figured it out yet so we were going to send more pictures! My mom called soon after and was so excited to hear the news!!! She asked how far along we were. We we’re 4 weeks along!!! Kyle and I had kept track of when we could have gotten pregnant, and we are pretty sure it was the 5th or 7th of May!
Everyone was starting to catch on and start calling. We called Kyle’s family once they guessed and spoke to them for a while. Emily was talking to them on speaker phone and we were on speaker phone so we told her while we were talking to Kyle’s mom, dad, sister Jenera, and brother Terrance! Then Brady called to see if he was right. He and Danielle congratulated us. Then we called my Dad. He was so happy to hear that we were expecting!! He said ‘That is fantastic news!’
It was great to share our joy with our whole family! We were so happy to bring a child into our family!

The Test

Kyle and I found out we were pregnant! When I peed on the stick Kyle wanted to look at it so bad, but we wanted to wait until the results had a chance to come up so we could both look at it at the same time! When I picked it up I just stared in shock! We had planned this pregnancy, but it was crazy to see it had happened so fast (the first month we started trying)!! Kyle asked ‘what does that mean? Are you pregnant?’ I said, ‘Kyle, I’m pregnant!’ We both hugged and kissed in excitement! After a minute or so I continued thinking about the reality of being pregnant. I started to cry because of how happy I was! Kyle and I just kept saying, ‘we’re pregnant, I can’t believe we’re pregnant!’

We're officially a 'Growing' Family!

May 2012. Kyle and I have been married for 10 months now. We didn’t want to start our family until I was done with Nursing school in December 2013. I have been wanting a child since we got married, but I knew it would be smart to get to know my husband better while it was just us two and to finish school so that I could focus all my attention on our children once they started coming. In October, Kyle and I were living in Duncan. We were praying together one night and both felt like we should start our family. I had been feeling that way for a couple weeks, but was scared to follow that prompting. After our prayer, we decided we should stop preventing pregnancy. The next day, we both talked about it and were scared about it so we kept preventing. Last month (April) we attended the Temple with our friends Jayce and Errin Lunt. While we were in the Celestial room, Kyle and I were both praying about having a baby. We had both been feeling like we wanted to have a baby for a couple of weeks. After praying in the Temple, we looked at each other. Kyle said, ‘I think we need to start our family’. I said ‘really’ with pure joy in my voice. I was so happy that he felt the same way I did! We felt that our Heavenly Father wants this for us and will watch over and bless us for bring one of His children into this world at the time. We decided that this time we wouldn’t ignore the impression we got. We stopped preventing. And now we are counting down the days until our little one comes!!
